Last updated: 14 June 2026
This policy explains how Essex Repairs and Maintenance Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information when you use our website or enquire about our home repair and maintenance services. It also explains how we use cookies.
We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
When you submit our enquiry form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your contact number
- Your email address
- Your postcode
- The details of the job you describe
- Any photos you choose to upload
When you use our website, we may also collect technical information through cookies, such as your device and browser type and how you interact with our pages and adverts. See the Cookies section below.
How we use your information, and our legal basis
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote. Our legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- Carry out and complete the work you book, and to invoice you. Our legal basis is performance of our contract with you.
- Keep records for tax and accounting. Our legal basis is meeting our legal obligations.
- Improve our service and measure our advertising. Our legal basis is your consent for advertising cookies, and our legitimate interest in running and improving the business.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run our business. They process your information on our behalf and only as instructed:
- Tally for collecting and storing form submissions
- Microsoft Outlook for email
- Xero for quotes, invoicing and accounting
- Google for measuring our advertising
- Our technicians and any subcontractors we use to complete your job, who receive only the details needed to do the work
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards approved for international transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information for 12 months if you do not go on to book work. Where you become a customer, we keep job and financial records for 6 years to meet tax and accounting requirements, after which we delete or anonymise them.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device. We use two kinds:
- Strictly necessary cookies that make the website and enquiry form work. These do not need your consent.
- Advertising and measurement cookies, set by Google, that help us understand which adverts lead to enquiries. We only set these if you accept them using our cookie banner.
When you first visit, our banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Until you accept, no advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which brings the banner back, or by adjusting your browser settings.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use it
- Ask us to transfer your information
- Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it
To exercise any of these, contact us at [email protected].
